Phuket and Live Aboard Dive

The boat to Phuket was slim and passengers seemed literate.

I'm digging the 'living on a boat' idea :)

Little Billy longed for the day to be let out of the ship's cargo hold.

Ryan admires the most expensive meal of the trip. 3 Tiger Prawns $22

The scariest thing I've seen in Thailand. 6 inches wide.

Can you spot the monkey on a bike? Bastards.

I asked this guy for a light...

Thailish is a wonderful language.

And the girls LOVE to put cold towels on your head.

Phuket, Patong Beach - Oh land of debauchery...

...where Heaven and Hell coexist in a state of chaotic symbiosis.

100s of Bars where anything goes...

Anything...

And that's an "Ass Smaking" tube...

The girls are Connect 4 and Jenga experts.

Fisho: Spicy? Yes! Yummy? Hmmm.

The road to Khao Lak - The Andaman Dive Departure Point.

Sepia shots always make it look like Mexico.

Me, Ryan and Maz. On a mission to see some big fish.

We board the boat late, and get the "low down"...

...everyone is completely zoning out...

...and the boat goes into the darkness of the night.

French Fries - the cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast!

"You looking at my bacon and egg? You got a problem?"

The blue waters of The Surin Islands - Near the Burmese Border.

People slowly begin to open up - after all, it's going to be 5 days together!

A long boat to the shore...

Most likely a genuine Sea Gypsy descendant.

No one, except a few old sea gypsies and rangers, lives on these protected islands...

...but for one special day we get to pretend we do :)

There's only a small ranger station and a couple of bungalows...

...otherwise the entire set of islands is like this.

Shallow for as far as you can walk! (see the guy?)

Little channels are created between the islands...

Ryan - an image of relaxed beauty.

3 Hammocks, 3 Homies, 3 days left.

The captain assembles the diving plank...

...and I promptly go first with an sunburn ignighting back flop.

Sun down and preparation for night diving!

The fish before...

...and after. Who's got opposable thumbs? Damn Right!

Screw the crowded cabins, we slept up top...

This was the Millenium Falcon turret with stars beyond!

6:40am - Preparing for the early dive!

Where I slept every night. Sometimes rather damply.
